What Happens Next is a series that explores the profound changes that will affect even the most fundamental parts of our lives in the future, through the people who are already living it. I did animation for the first video in the series (video here) and I art directed the title screen and branding.
Title Screen:
For the intro titles, I wanted to play with sharp lines and geometry and create a feeling of an inevitable forward movement. The quick cuts and intersection of technology and nature really speaks to the series as a whole.
Animation:
I was really inspired by Bitcoin being based on such ancient concepts, so I took inspiration from old tech, more specifically the Commodore computer. I wanted everything to have a subtle collage feel to speak to the fact that even in cutting edge technology, nothing is ever truly new.
Concept Art:
Here’s a concept mockup that I call Franken-Venus. I took parts from 70s and 80s magazine ads and several muses immortalized in fine art and mashed them together to create this. It represents what happens when someone discover your identity in the blockchain. It’s highly unlikely, but if it happens all of your “anonymous activity is laid bare.
